A Little Mistake That Cost A Hotel $2,000.00

Recently a hotel called us and explained that they had bought a large amount of visa aprons. The first washing the aprons had become permanently wrinkled and they had to order aprons made from cotton polyester to use instead of the visa! WM-SMP
      The two-pocket smock is an ample 18"x27" finished size.

WM-36P
      Largest selling model! The apron is a 36" cut-size and features a 9"x17" divided pouch pocket. Neck straps are 1" in width and have an adjustable D-ring. The bib area ranges from 9.5" at the top to a bottom out at 30".
      It is manufactured from 7-oz. twill and is 65% poly, 35% domestic cotton for easy laundering. All products are color fast and treated with soil retardant. Also available without pockets (style WM-36NP)

WM-GAP
      The grocers apron is a full-fit 30"x36" cut-size style. The apron has the traditional pencil pocket, two hand pockets, and colored braided matching ties.

WM-CBP
      The cobbler apron was developed for customers that require a three-part extended pocket across the bottom. The apron is a full-fit 28" cut-size and has an adjustable D-ring.

WM-B139P
      One of our special products is the heavy 10-oz. denim Bistro Apron. The European design is a full 30"x39" with 36" braided ties. The right hand pocket is 7.5"x8.5". This apron can be easily silk-screened.

WM-12P
      Firm's request the "Postcard" or waist aprons where a logo T-shirt or other item is worn. The apron features the three-part extended pocket at the bottom. It is 17" wide and 12" high.

WM-4W
      The 34"x17" four-way apron has been used for years behind the service bar and in the pantry. The apron features 28" ties.

WM-28P
      This is the second most popular apron. The cut size is 28", slightly shorter than the WM-36P. The features are similar: it is constructed of the same fabric, but has two 7"x7" pockets. Also available without pockets (style WM-28NP).

Q. All chef coats are the same, aren't they?
A. Well, in fact they are not. Some are more expensive and very elegant.  Well, you do not need a platinum dish to cook a donut!  Are you a first time or experienced buyer! Chef apparel should be purchased with a plan. You know, folk, a recipe! This guarantees good taste! 
   You want a good fit, the correct and durable, yet comfortable.  
   Fabric is important! Our most durable best fitting and reasonably priced garments are made of polyester and man-made fiber and cotton! Cotton let's the garment breath and makes you feel comfortable, and the poly adds durability and heat resistance! The twill weave gives a hard, but good-looking fresh finish! If you have ever been in the military, you wore twill uniform pants - they last a long time!  
   The coat should be made from domestic twill also to protect from heat and food splash. Twill is a durable weave. It is very tight with a hard finish. It resists soil (soil rolls off). You can also buy aprons like ours that have a soil retardant in the fabric!

Q. Does it have to be white?  
A. No, you can buy color if you want. White is a tradition, it gives the impression of cleanliness. Today many chefs are in open kitchens.

Q. How many do I need?  
A. The correct par is one in the wash! One on the shelf! One on the employee! This formula will give you enough inventory to give all the garments a rest between washing! We have all seen the apron and chef coat that is limp because they have been washed to death!

PLEASE MEASURE EACH EMPLOYEE. This avoids restocking charges when you call me and say they do not fit! I go "Hmm! You mean they do not fit. Well, restocking is a 15% charge! This is an industry rule!"

In chef pants remember: man and woman's pants are constructed differently and cost the same!

Secrets That Save You Time and Money!

Q. Why do some aprons "EXPLODE" in the Wash Machine?  
A. This very simple question but it has a not so simple answer! Many firms selling aprons have never been in the Laundry business and do not actually understand textile maintenance or manufacturing! They resell products and rarely understand the content of the fabric or where it originates! Apron fabric that currently is produced in the USA currently is industry standard! This is not to say that foreign countries do not make good fabrics, but they traditionally are used in the retail trade and not for apron material! We add soap to the wash, soap is a lubricant, and as the load is lubricated, the garments rub against each other creating the friction that loosens the soil! WOW, simple answer! This friction is what wears out the fibers, there for what fabric you use determines Garment Life. Good fabrics usually cost a little bit more but they last longer!

Q. Protect expensive terry  
Man with the Grasshopper Mind Called Judi:  
-  You sold me bathrobes that are so full of pinholes my guest cannot wear them!  
For fifteen minutes, he jumped verbally all over the planet! Finally, Judi said:  
-  Sir those teeny weenie holes are not from inferior Martex Terry, but those are bleach burns!  
He said:  
-  We do not"use bleach on the robes!  
Judi called the housekeeper and explained that if you wash robes in the same machine that you washed bar towels with bleach you needed to protect the expensive terry by rinsing out your wash machine cylinders between loads! Q. Suppose this happened the day Your Hotel Opened!  
Purchase smart and practice textile maintenance. All textiles must be washed and rotated on a regular basis. In time white goods will become yellow and deteriorate! Wash all goods immediately and put in service! Too much bleach causes the yellowing - this means the fabrics are burning an will return to their original state.  Yes, folks, you bleach and a chemical process oxycellulous activates - the stuff turns to paper! Remember, bar mops if washed with just soap and water may have a gray look but they will last twice as long. Don't soak them in a sink with bleach your just making paper! In addition, if you invest in a grill-cleaning tool and do not wipe the grill with bar mops dishtowels and chef caps  - you will save!

Q. Little Leaks That Keep the Boss Poor!  
Recently I went into a hotel laundry to do some Consulting! The hotel manager and laundry manager were having a shouting match! The laundry, which was attempting to become a profit center, had just blown the budget for the quarter! It seems that 150 king size sheets had been ruined! The sheets had developed a gray stain that would not wash out! At  $80.00 per dozen -  $1,000.00 had to be charged against the budget! I walked through the laundry and pointed out that washed and soiled sheets were dropping on the concrete floor, because they did not have enough baskets to hold them. White goods when dropped on a cement floor get what is known as cement stain! This stain can not be removed! I advised them to hire a professional painting contractor and paint the floor with epoxy paint! Why a professional contractor? Because epoxy paint if not put on the floor properly can warp and created an uneven floor that will hold water instead of letting it flow to the drains! Every b!

You woke up and OB an unpaid guest was sharing the room! The desk clerk and housekeeper had no clues and you could not call the Police! The first clue was that all the linen in the room dull and had a yellow Hue! It was OB known in the trade as Optical Brightener! The local soapsuds representative had told you that he was selling so much bleach that textiles were burning up and turning yellow! To solve the problem they introduced an optical brightener that made every thing whiter, covered up the yellow burns and no one could tell!
